GOVERN THYSELF!

Saturday, April 30, 2011

The greatest secret to success is governing oneself. As simple it may seem, this is one discipline that is a bit difficult to master but it is the same criteria which really sets you apart from the vast majority of the population!

Swami Vivekananda from India was a master at this and it hadn’t come easily for him as well! He had to work on this aspect for some time before it gave away it’s secret and made him what he had been all through his life; he did things that seemed to be miracles and still do, but in actuality you too are perfectly capable of doing what Swami Vivekananda did, or even more!

The secret is in bringing all that you have under control and being the complete master of yourself!

Pressure Cookers:
A lot of people have been turning into pressure cookers in the recent days. Why?

That’s because people have started to focus on the “running for a life” more than focus on how they do it. It’s completely ok to keep pushing yourself for a better life but in the process you forget to take care of the body and mind that are the vehicles through which you accomplish your goals!

So, isn’t it so important to control your mind and body (yes body!)?

The first step is self-affirming to oneself that he/she is responsible for ones results in life, to a great degree and that one must take charge of the life he/she is leading!

Once you gain ownership over yourself, you’ll witness that your energy levels are soaring.

Your endowment of self-awareness would keep reminding you if you are in control or have allowed external conditions or people to control you. Change it and right away take control of your thoughts.

The 4 important things of which you must exercise 100% are to follow, but remember when you start to change the way do things in these areas your life and the way you see your life will start to change!

1. Governing emotions:

This is the number reason for all the troubles in the world as it affects not only the individual who is emotionally upset but others as well. It has spoiled many relationships, stolen millions of hopes and zapped lots and lots of confidence in people!

The emotion of anger, jealous, self-pity, anxiety, guilt, etc have created a lot of havoc in people’s life and have resulted in abandoning ones vision and goals.

Like Swami Vivekananda always stay calm and composed no matter how hard your external circumstances becomes or how badly you are tempted to give in to your impulses and feelings.

2. Governing ones thought patterns:
This is the root. The way you think, the kind of thoughts you promote and encourage has great bearing on your progress or lack of it! This may seem far-fetched but IT IS ONE TRUTH THAT YOU MUST BELIEVE AT YOUR SUBCONSCIOUS LEVEL!!

Great people think great thoughts. Second-grade thoughts have no place in their garage of brain. As a result, they think creatively most of the time and produce creative results. Creative results give them BIG success!

3. Govern your activities:

If you can govern your thoughts efficiently and effectively you can easily govern your activities. And activities are the things that lead to result. Just thinking good thoughts is of no use. Thinking good thoughts, coming up with better ideas and implementing those ideas in the right way bring result!

4. Govern your words:

This again is a part of governing your thought. Great people use words that encourage others, that initiates motivation, that produces result, that avoid misunderstanding, that create a great work culture, that create a wonderful home and bonding between family members, that inspire the followers to strive for the vision and so forth.

People who are highly successful use words with utmost care. Not a single wrong or inappropriate word comes out of their mouth or not a single good or effective word fails to come out of their mouth!

By being a man or woman who has 100% control over himself/herself you are implicitly passing along a great lesson to the younger generation!

Who knows you may go on further to inspire thousands and thousands of people around you!!

Wish you all the riches to come with God’s blessings

Peter Anand
